Job Description

How will you make an impact?

As a Buyer , you will manage MRP to ensure material supply meets demand while optimizing overall material costs. You will develop supply chain strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and work closely with internal teams to support business objectives and cost reduction initiatives.

• Supply Chain Strategy & Supplier Management:
  
  
  • Develop supply base and supply chain strategies tailored to customer or Business Unit needs.
  • Work with the Purchasing Manager and SCM to determine the best approach to meeting customer requirements.
  • Influence customer supply chain strategies to align with Jabil's processes.
  • Communicate Jabil's expectations to suppliers and conduct supplier audits, certifications, and performance reviews .
• Sourcing & Procurement:
  
  
  • Quote new and existing materials and work with Materials Quotation Analysts when applicable.
  • Continuously re-quote and negotiate to capitalize on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Make sourcing decisions based on overall cost, flexibility, service, performance, quality, and terms & conditions .
  • Improve sourcing options by adding Jabil-preferred or strategic suppliers to the Approved Manufacturer's List (AML) .
• Pricing & Cost Optimization:
  
  
  • Analyze and project component purchase prices to reflect accurate inventory valuation for Standard Costing processes .
  • Provide input on Quoted Cost to the Customer to ensure competitiveness while maximizing Materials Price Variance (MPV) .
  • Work with Business Unit Managers (BUM) to obtain customer authorization for additional expenses such as material premiums, freight, and tooling charges.
• Operational Execution & Compliance:
  
  
  • Collaborate with Materials Planners to monitor, track, and improve supplier performance.
  • Ensure supplier support aligns with overall business needs.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions that protect Jabil's interests, including liability terms and special stocking arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with Jabil's security policies and safety regulations.

• Typically reports to Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Equivalent education, training, or experience may be considered.

• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to calculate financial figures , including discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages .
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for supplier and customer interactions.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced PC skills (Windows-based software, Jabil's software packages).
• Ability to read, interpret, and execute supply chain documentation and financial reports .
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish actionable conclusions .

• Work Environment:
  
  
  • Office setting with regular interaction with suppliers, materials teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Occasional visits to the manufacturing floor or warehouse may be required.
