Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The Head of Payroll Services (U.S. & Canada) will oversee a dedicated team serving 9,000+ employees with responsibilities of end-to-end payroll processing activities, payroll tax & legal compliance oversight, employee payroll inquiry case management, and time & attendance (T&A) system administration. This effective people manager will be proactive in leading by example and guiding their team of 10 in delivering results. The successful candidate will assist their team on complex tactical activities but, primarily be focused on thought-leadership and driving strategic initiatives to assist with long-term priorities of the organization. The Head of Payroll Services will bring a mindset of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement while possessing exceptional financial acumen.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and strategic oversight of payroll services for U.S. and Canada while ensuring an effective governance of policies and procedures.
  • Identify improvements and best practices to drive process excellence aimed at ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions.
  • Mitigate and investigate risk proactively; maintain effective internal controls for department and enhance controls when necessary to drive risk reduction.
  • Guide team to identify error root causes, resolutions, and process refinements to prevent and eliminate repetitive errors.
  • Drive efficiencies of payroll related reporting to assist with organizational needs; develop payroll metrics to track productivity and performance.
  • Oversee departmental budget and spend management with payroll service providers.
  • Subject matter pro and guide to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements; primary point of contact for audits that may arise.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Accounting, Legal, Commissions, Stock Administration, Audit, and Human Resources.
  • Primary point of contact for Executives with payroll related inquiries and oversee relationships with payroll service providers.
  • Devise long-term strategic plan of the organization and identify capabilities and investments to achieve plan.
  • Manage team to accomplish results through training, development, performance management and recognition while promoting a positive and team centric environment.
  • Participate on strategic projects impacting function including new HR system implementation, Workday.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of payroll people leadership experience in a large company setting.
  • Forward-thinking manager with exceptional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in taking short- and long-range approach in achieving results.
  • Must be willing/able to work onsite 3 days/week at our Peachtree Corners, GA office.
  • Able to travel occasionally to our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters to drive cross-functional efforts and building a rapport across various stakeholders.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience
● CPP or FPC certification

● Experience with Workday, ADP Vantage, and time & attendance (T&A) administrative oversight.
