About the Role
The Implementation Manager will spearhead on-the-ground launch activities at new Caper Store Launch Sites. This role involves overseeing the initial launch success, facilitating pre and post-launch processes, and ensuring that on-the-ground execution aligns with our strategic goals. Flexibility and the ability to accommodate last-minute changes are crucial for this role. The preferred location for this remote position is in the East Coast/Midwest, with up to 75% travel during typical launch periods. During busy periods or more complex implementations, you may be required to spend your entire working week at a site (100% away from home).
Success in this role requires the ability to effectively interact with retailer stakeholders and dynamically communicate findings and operational updates, ensuring all parties are aligned and informed throughout the implementation process.

Caper builds smart shopping carts using deep learning and computer vision for a seamless grab-and-go retail experience. Our plug-and-play solution needs no store renovations; retailers simply buy the carts to gain cashierless capabilities. Caper, a fast-growing retail automation product, costs less than 1% of competitors' infrastructure and is widely adopted. Our cross-functional team solves problems our customers love.
The Retail Ops Excellence (ROE) Team's mission is to deliver excellence as we launch and scale in-store technology through the development and execution of operational solutions that support the growth and success of all Instacart stakeholders.
The Programs & Implementation Team, as part of the ROE Team, manages the development, planning, and rollout of solutions across new launches, expansions, and new features while also fostering continuous improvement to provide a best-in-class store experience for users, keeping retailers in mind.
About the Job
- Build and execute the playbook for launching new in-store technology to retail locations: Spearhead on-the-ground launch activities at new Caper Store Launch Sites. This role involves overseeing the initial launch success, facilitating pre and post-launch processes, and ensuring on-the-ground execution aligns with our strategic goals.
- End-to-end implementation for new sites: Ensure sites meet business requirements; interface with central teams, retail partners, and vendors to ensure launch activities are on track. Train & support local the team, work hand-in-hand with them to launch the site, and hand off before moving to the next deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Serve as a strategic thought partner as we build, scale, and optimize critical new in-store technology.
- Hands-on tasks: As our company values say, "roll up your sleeves": Build shelving, hang signage, troubleshoot devices, complete test orders, and much more as new Caper carts are brought to life.
- Flexibility and travel: This remote position is preferred for candidates located on the East Coast/Midwest. Expect approximately 75% travel during typical launch periods,and the ability to travel on short notice. Be prepared to spend your entire working week at a site (100% away from home) during busy periods or more complex implementations.
- Help build the future of implementations: Partner closely with the Program Management team and Deployment Program Manager to develop, improve, and scale deployment processes and implementation playbooks.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of experience launching and/or operating retail stores, fulfillment centers, warehouses, or similar (grocery, ecommerce, retail, or similar related experience preferred).
- Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders, including retailers, store staff, and brand ambassadors, and experience serving as a point of contact and leading large groups.
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction in grocery or retail environments.
- Experience in change management processes to ensure smooth transitions during technology rollouts and operational changes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with logistics process and technology preferred
- Strong project management skills and ability to independently drive zero-defect execution.
- Familiarity with implementing and optimizing omni-channel retail strategies and technologies in physical store locations
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction in grocery or retail environments.
