Role : Oracle and SQL Server (DBA) with AWS Expertise

Location: Perth, Australia

Salary Range: AUD 108,571- 119,893 (Annual Gross)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in both Oracle and SQL Server, along with a strong background in AWS. The candidate will be responsible for managing our Oracle and SQL Server database environments, leading efforts to migrate our database infrastructure to AWS. This role requires in-depth knowledge of database administration for both Oracle and SQL Server, and proficiency with AWS services related to database migration and management on EC2 instances and RDS. The candidate will also be involved in designing, architecting, and implementing database solutions, including backup, security, and disaster recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities
    • Database Administration of both Oracle and SQL
    • Manage Oracle databases (versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c) in both on-premises and AWS environments.
    • Manage SQL Server databases (versions 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, and beyond) across on-premises and AWS environments.
    • Experience in Upgrading Oracle and SQL Server version from lower to higher.
    • Migrate SQL Server databases to AWS, leveraging EC2, RDS, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
    • Perform database migrations to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
    • Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
    • Utilize Oracle RMAN for backup, recovery, and cloning operations.
    • Configure and manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and database mirroring.
    • Implement SQL Server replication, backup/restore processes, and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Ensure database security, including encryption (TDE) and user access management.
    • Deploy and manage databases on AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
    • Configure Multi-AZ deployments for high availability and fault tolerance.
    • Implement Multi-AZ replication and failover configurations.
    • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for database migration projects.
    • Monitor and optimize database performance using AWS tools.
    • Develop, manage, and test comprehensive backup and recovery plans.
    • Perform regular performance tuning and optimization of databases.
    • Implement and maintain database security policies.
    • Collaborate with application teams to ensure databases are configured according to application requirements.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and AWS services.
    • Proven experience as both an Oracle and SQL Server DBA with a strong focus on AWS environments.
    • Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Education:
  • Degree/Diploma in IT or equivalent.
  • ITIL certification would be an advantage.
  • Industry recognized IT certifications.
