Short Description: Looking for AWS Support Lead
Location : Melbourne
Salary range: AUD 108,571- 119,893(Annual Gross)
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the AWS support team, ensuring effective monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and problem management.
- Provide hands-on technical support for AWS infrastructure, focusing on performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop, manage, and troubleshoot AWS CloudFormation templates for infrastructure automation and provisioning.
- Own and drive AWS cost management initiatives, monitoring cloud spend, analyzing trends, identifying optimization opportunities, and working with stakeholders to ensure efficient cloud usage.
- Use tools like AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and third-party tools to track, analyze, and report on cloud spend.
- Collaborate application teams and leadership to forecast cloud spend and ensure costs align with budgets.
- Act as an escalation point for complex AWS infrastructure and operational issues.
- Develop and maintain runbooks, operational playbooks, and incident response processes.
- Establish and maintain cloud governance policies, ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with development, architecture, and security teams to support deployments and design scalable, cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to automate operational tasks, improve monitoring, and enhance incident response processes.
- Mentor and upskill team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
- Stay current with AWS service updates, best practices, and industry trends, sharing insights and recommendations with leadership.
Experience
- 5 to 8 years of total IT experience, including significant experience managing and supporting large-scale AWS environments.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience across core services, with demonstrated expertise in AWS Infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform or Ansible.
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience, managing or leading a cloud support or infrastructure team.
- Extensive experience with AWS CloudFormation, including developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex templates.
- Strong knowledge of AWS cost management and cost optimization practices, including Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and cost governance.
- In-depth knowledge of core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM.
- Expertise in incident management, root cause analysis, and problem management within AWS environments.
- Experience integrating CloudFormation with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for operational automation.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools, such as CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, and security groups.
- Proven leadership capabilities, including mentoring teams, setting priorities, and driving operational excellence.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams across development, operations, finance, and leadership.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive mindset.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are highly desirable.
- Formal training or certifications in ITIL processes, Cloud Financial Management (CFM), or cloud cost optimization is a plus.
- Experience with multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations and AWS control tower.
- Experience with AWS Config, AWS Systems Manager, and AWS Trusted Advisor.
- Exposure to other infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Experience in governance frameworks and compliance audits
