Your Role and Responsibilities
The GRE Workplace Design and Standards Manager is responsible for delivering strategic real estate, site operations, workplace and technical design standards and solutions in collaboration with GRE colleagues and supplier partners that differentiate the user experience and showcase IBM's technology, brand and culture.

Define standards, provide guidance and support to geography teams in the following areas: Workplace Design Standards including Internet of Things and Audio/Visual, Workplace Experience, Space Planning tools; Strategic Project Support and Design Validation; Budget Standards and Estimation Validation as necessary; Business Case Support; Design Consultancy and Validation; Collaborate with Procurement, GRE teams on Contracting and Supplier requirements ; Contractor Performance, Metrics and Innovation.
Implement and iterate on workplace design standards that support IBM's transformation. Provide guidance and support to GRE geography teams and work collaboratively with design and construction leaders to implement global standards to promote the IBM brand while also enabling local cultural influences.
Oversee Global Workplace Design Center of Excellence, including subject matter experts in tools, architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, and global IBM Design and Construction process.
Drive continuous improvement and process efficiency for global Design and Construction process, with consideration given to IBM's business needs, risk appetite, business controls requirements, key stakeholder feedback, finance, and trusted supplier input.
Provide project approvals as required in GRE Approval Matrix for global projects including the approval of the selection of architects/engineers and design concepts for all non-Data Center projects greater than $2M or any project which requires significant lobby or customer space construction or results in a change to a site master plan.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelors degree in architecture, project management, or engineering field
- 10 years of experience in corporate real estate with focus on workplace or infrastructure design, standards, or construction
- Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Project management in commercial design and construction
- Technical depth in project management software platforms (Procore, TRIRIGA, etc)
- Strong relationship history across shared services teams such as Procurement, CIO, and Security
