Your role and responsibilities

As a Visual Designer working on IBM Storage offerings, you'll work with our interdisciplinary design teams, product management, and development stakeholders to create user experiences that delight our users. While you work within the design loop, we look for you to have the agility to respond to changing business requirements and users' needs.

The world of data storage is incredibly complex and layered, and it is rich with opportunities for design patents, unique interfaces, and data visualizations. You'll play a key role in building experiences that help our customers ensure they get the most out of their data, including data storage, resiliency, and AI enablement.

Responsibilities include:

- Design deliverables such as mid-high fidelity prototypes, and specifications.

- Applying expertise in typography, layout, colour, etc. to elicit emotional connections and intuitive, intelligent responses from users.

- Designs with pixel-perfect precision, attention to detail, and have expert skills in software tools for design, production, and implementation.

- Collaborate with other designers to ensure a consistent, accessible, integrated, user-experience.

- Translate end-user workflows/interactions to create a differentiated visual design experience.

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • At least 2 years of experience in visual design.
  • Experience working with / contributing to enterprise software design systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design (visual, industrial design, user experience, or HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent listening, written, verbal communication skills, storytelling, and documentation skills.
  • Creative, artistic, and innovative thinker - able to craft simple, intuitive, and desirable experiences while keeping in mind the principles of visual design.
  • A portfolio of previous work must be presented incorporating UI designs and/or sketches that demonstrate an understanding of visual, interaction design, and design best practices.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Master's Degree in Design (visual, industrial design, user experience, or HCI) or related field.
  • Experience designing for complex systems.
