User Experience Intern (September 12 months)

Your Role and Responsibilities
This position resides in Markham and Ottawa, ON and is a 12 month work term commencing in September 2024. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work-term.

  • Perform data capture & analysis to draw conclusions on user behavior & identify patterns,
  • Design & distribute surveys to capture user feedback,
  • Apply critical thinking to spot & address anomalies,
  • Propose innovative solutions that enhance the overall user experience of IBM Technology Zone,
  • Perform duties as assigned by the User Experience Lead

Who You Are:

  • A team player who is self-directed and can also work independently with minimal supervision,
  • Have a passion for innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to understand technical concepts and assimilate different points of view,
  • Possess strong active listening & communication skills to effectively articulate and represent users' requirements,
  • Extremely organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines,
  • Have adept problem-solving skills with ability to overcome obstacles & address problems in need of solutions,
  • Have a basic understanding of UI Design principles and processes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong ability to perform independent research,
  • Knowledge or experience building user journey maps to visualize users experience,
  • Experience generating insights from data,
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite,
  • Knowledge of design thinking methodologies.
  • Must be eligible to work 12 months starting in September

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
    • Experience with workflow automation tools - Visio, Lucidchart, ...
    • Experience with project management software - Monday.com, Trello, ...
    • Experience with survey tools - SurveyMonkey, SurveyGizmo, Google Forms, ...
    • Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
