Your role and responsibilities
As a Brand Technical Specialist you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust and show them how IBM's industry leading solutions will solve their problems whilst delivering value to their business.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical sales support for key programs and select client engagements during the pre-sales and post-sales process to remove technical inhibitors to opportunities
- Utilize technical experts for orchestration of viable client solutions and accelerators, leveraging current capabilities and offerings while providing input to product teams for solutions refinement in support of the business unit
- Work in close collaboration with technical teams and IBM business units in development of winning client solutions
- Work across various territories and leverage industry experts within IBM markets
- Be the go-to resource to the business unit technical sales teams when expertise may be needed in developing the architecture, executing garage engagements and in co-creation customer engagements
Key attributes of successful candidates include:
- Experience working on Gen AI projects including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI workflows and AI empowered Code Assistants
- Ability to anticipate, create and define innovative and visionary concepts in strategic environments
- Demonstrated ability to work in complex, matrix managed organizational environment where collaboration and effective communication is essential to success
- Demonstrated level of business acumen coupled with technical expertise
Strong operational and project management skills - Commercially minded and understands the end-to-end sales engagements with a strong sense of ownership, execution, and focus on client success
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Experience with Agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI etc)
Experience with AI based Code Assistant tools - Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a Technical Sales/Solution Consultant/Sales Engineer role or experience working as a data scientist or AI Engineer
- Proficiency in a data science programming language such as Python or R
- Experience working with the sales lifecycle and driving customer outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills at all levels of an organization
- Driven and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to excellence in everything they do
- Ability to build and maintain positive business relationships with peers and clients
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience with IBM Data products (watsonx.ai, watsonx Orchestrate, watsonx Assistant, Cloud Pak for Business Automation, Blueworks Live)
- Competitive product experience a plus (Microsoft Copilot, Github Copilot, Cursor, etc.)
- Data & AI Market Knowledge: Expertise in the Data & AI market to quickly become a trusted client advisor

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
