Your Role and Responsibilities

This role is on the strategy team supporting the Sustainability Software portfolio of solutions within IBM Software, which includes Envizi, Maximo, TRIRIGA, Environmental Intelligence, and IBM Sterling Order Management. These solutions help our clients create more efficient businesses and operationalize their sustainability goals.

As a strategy analyst, you will drive critical transformation of the business by developing and applying knowledge of industry-specific and cross-industry competitive strategies. You will analyze problems, formulate hypotheses, develop insights, and deliver recommendations to drive growth and transformation, working with product leaders to investigate new market opportunities and business models. You will bring outside-in perspectives that may challenge beliefs through data-driven analysis, working closely with internal clients across different IBM businesses to co-create strategies for change. Your strategic recommendations will drive change in a digitally enabled era and give you the opportunity to collaborate with highly talented IBMers.

Your role and responsibilities:

• Shape the decisions of senior leadership through project engagements
• Engage with product leaders to determine root causes to be evaluated, hypotheses to be tested, and business outcomes to be achieved
• Establish trusted relationships with internal client teams. Work with stakeholders across IBM to gather information, gain diverse perspectives, and deepen subject matter expertise
• Develop fact-based client, market, and competitor insights based on research, e.g., through primary interviews, analyst reports, and internal databases
• Develops product vision and direction of future offering enhancements that address competitive gaps and meet market requirements
• Define requirements, business cases with investment plan, pricing/revenue/ forecast estimates, working with Consulting, Sales, Business Partners, Customers, Design, Development and other stake holders to build product roadmap, go-to-market strategy and enablement for the product offerings
• Produce and leverage insights as well as apply technical and operational expertise to identify issues, challenge the status quo, and co-create creative recommendations
• Translate ambiguity and complexity into structured approaches to solve problems and identify opportunities amid rapid technological and market disruptions
• Synthesize insights and recommendations into client presentations and facilitate dialog to clearly communicate findings to Business Unit leaders and senior executives

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Intellectual curiosity and readiness to question existing strategies, business models, and methodologies to devise innovative solutions
• Diverse experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives
• Eagerness to cultivate positive working relationships within a tight-knit team and build trusted relationships across all levels of IBM
• Passion to understand how emerging technologies can be adopted and applied to solve business and societal challenges
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, including the capability to take ambiguous complexities and deliver creative, well-structured solutions
• Deep analytical skills and ability to formulate data-driven recommendations
• Powerful communication and storytelling skills, successfully using verbal and written communication to expose and defend points of view to business leaders and team members
• High degree of autonomy and the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• 3-5 years of consulting experience in firm or internal strategy org
• 3-5 year of competitive analysis
• 3-5 years in a Strategy or Product Management role
• 3-5 year in working in software or other technology-focused role
