We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead and manage our cutting-edge development teams focused on Db2 On cloud. This role requires a good understanding of Databases , Data warehouses, Software as a Service, container-related technologies and the ability to drive technical excellence across large-scale and complex projects.

In this role you will be able to express your passion for people and process, you will work closely with other cross-functional leaders to understand goals and vision and you will translate goals and vision into engineering objectives for your team. You will produce estimates to support decision making and feature prioritisation on high-level projects. You will manage projects, track dependencies and guide your team towards their delivery objectives. You will nurture innovation and celebrate out-of-the box thinking. You will facilitate collaboration as well as self-organisation within the team.
You will manage entire life cycles of projects, from concept, through release, to production and its support. You will manage the day-to-day priorities for individual engineers, driving high levels of quality and productivity. You will build and grow your team through acquiring, up-training and retaining the highest level talent. You will mentor, support and coach individual engineers for their professional, technical and personal growth
Introduction

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering teams working on Db2 on Cloud related features/functionality fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of development projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Coordinate across teams to align with product goals and timelines.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide strong technical leadership in the design and development of features/functionality that enhance the Db2 SaaS offering While ensuring the implementation of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, QA, and Ops, to ensure the successful Sprint delivery and deployments.
  • Career Development: Support the growth and development of team members by providing feedback, identifying training opportunities, and helping them achieve their career goals.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals, balancing team workloads, and managing project budgets where necessary.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1-3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Background and Knowledge of container-related technologies (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker etc.)
  • Relational databases and some experience with AWS or Azure
  • Some experience with one of C++, Go or Python and RDBMS.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3 years in a management or leadership role
  • Open Source: Experience working with or contributing to open-source projects. A deep understanding of the open-source ecosystem and community dynamics.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly in the context of data base ,data processing and analytics.
  • Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience in applying them to software development projects.
