We are seeking a software developer to join our IBM Software team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products, working with a variety of technologies and programming languages.

Your Role and Responsibilities
This position resides in Markham, ON and is a 4, 8, 12 or 16 month work term commencing in Jan or May 2025. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work-term.

As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a vital role in crafting exceptional software experiences. Your responsibilities will encompass the design and implementation of innovative features, fine-tuning and sustaining existing code for optimal performance, and guaranteeing top-notch quality through rigorous testing and debugging. You will be solving real world problems in support of the thousands of enterprise customers who rely on our products. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you'll be working closely with fellow developers, designers, and product managers to ensure our software aligns seamlessly with user expectations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Software Development Expertise:
Strong background in software development, demonstrating expertise and knowledge in more than two of the following in programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, UNIX Shell Scripting, .NET/C#, Angular, React, Vue, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, NodeJS, Dojo, Rust, Go (golang), Groovy. Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD based workflows, using Jenkins, Artifactory, GitHub Enterprise. Participate in agile backlog grooming, planning and execution of your work.
  • Cloud Technology Proficiency:
Experience with cloud-based technologies, showcasing familiarity with modern cloud ecosystems and tools (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud); building, deploying and managing containerized microservice based applications on Kubernetes. Familiarity with Client/Server architectures and web requests. Knowledge of browser-based debugging and understanding of web fundamentals (Cookies, localStorage, DOM).
  • Database Knowledge:
Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly experience with technologies like Db2, Oracle or Cloudant, adding value to data management practices.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills:
Demonstrate excellence in problem-solving, with the ability to tackle complex issues and find effective solutions. Good understanding of unit, behavioral and end-to-end testing.
  • Collaborative Team Player with Self-Starter Mindset:
Ability to work seamlessly as part of a team, contributing to collective goals and fostering a collaborative work environment. A self-starter with a proactive mindset, able to initiate and drive projects independently.
  • Must be eligible to work 4, 8, 12 or 16 months starting in January or May 2025.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong understanding of computer science data structures and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of Ansible and Cypress framework.
  • Good understanding of API Gateways management and microservices. Knowledge on ngrx and rxjs.
