Your Role and Responsibilities
The Business Automation Workflow Operate team is responsible for designing and implementing operators, as well as traditional install, configuration, and migration, for Workflow Automation software across multiple products and form factors, including Cloud Pak for Business Automation (CP4BA), Business Automation Workflow (BAW), and Watsonx Orchestrate. We are looking for a talented and seasoned software engineer with proven technical leadership experience and a strong background in backend development, with ability to design, develop, test, and document features and components.

Responsibilities:
  • In our agile development model, participate in small, autonomous but aligned teams to learn and perform a variety of roles, including design, development, test, automation and client interaction/support.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain operators for containerized Business Automation Workflow softwareDevelop and maintain install, configuration, and migration for traditional Business Automation Workflow software
  • Take ownership of assignments & drive them to completion.
  • Innovate and turn new ideas into reality
  • Customer engagements through L3 support channel, advocacy, POCs, and escalations
  • Problem determination, debugging, and resolution within the full stack and across various technologies and form factors
  • Set technical direction and lead junior developers
  • Work collaboratively across functional areas
  • Maintain customer focus by collaborating with support team on escalated issues

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software development and strong experience with CI/CD technology such as SPS, Tekton, Jenkins
  • 6+ years experience with containers, operators, Kubernetes, docker, OCP, EKS, CNCF and other container platforms
  • 6+ years experience in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Go and Python
  • 6+ years experience working with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipeline tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), experience with direct or indirect customer engagements

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong understanding of principals of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Skilled in test-driven development and good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies.
  • High level of professionalism when working collaboratively across functional areas
