Your Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Administrate and support operating system (OS) and application middleware (M/W) within the product portfolio worked upon by the team.
• Responsibilities include establishment of services (OS hardening) and assisting with application installation and managing application servers.
• Maintaining compliance posture in adherence with IBM standards and practices.
Working with development teams to debug functional/application issues.
• Interfacing with associated compliance tools and providing proof of execution documentation, where applicable. Performing required scanning, health-checking, and logging, whenever required.
• Hosting, managing, and upgrading collaborative test environments
• Automate the system admin tasks. (Knowledge on shell scripting)
• Automate the backup of environments and databases (Oracle, DB2).
• Planning for lab outages and coordinating with impacted test teams.
• Perform system testing for features related to application administration (install/upgrade/migration/monitoring/access control/licensing)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 8+ years of experience in IT Administration / Operations.
    • Deep understanding of key differentiating technologies, including OS version control/upgrade, and patch test and maintenance.
    • Can automate Middleware version control/upgrade, and patch test and maintenance.
    • Must have system administration skills for Linux/Unix/Windows OS (powershell/bash).
    • Experience deploying and hosting sandbox test environments.
    • Experience with enterprise database administration i.e. DB2, Oracle, SQL Server etc.
    • Working knowledge of Web Servers, Reverse Proxies, and Application Servers.
    • Knowledge of Identity Management solutions such as Microsoft Active Directory, OpenLDAP, or IBM Security Directory Server.
    • Working knowledge of VMWare ESXi, KVM or similar server virtualization solutions.
    • Basic network administration skills.
    • Must have knowledge on shell scripting.
    • Automate the overall System admin, backup activities. (Must have Scripting knowledge)
    • Experience with defect tracking tools such as ETM (Rational Quality Manager) or similar tool.
    • Provide DBA support on all aspects of databases administration including provisioning, backup/recovery, replication, deployment and real time production troubleshooting responsibilities on DB2 and Oracle
    • DB2 skills are required , MS SQL and/or Oracle Skills would be helpful. MongoDB, Cassandra and Couchbase optional
    • Good to have Oracle knowledge. Willing to learn and explore oracle.
    • Install, configure, monitor, upgrade and maintain database in production and non-production environments
    • Provide 24x7 on call DBA support for production environment on rotation schedule and on Adhoc need basis

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with IBM Enterprise Lifecycle Management (or other ALM solutions)
• Experience automating the deployment of enterprise software applications.
• Ability to perform system and application level root cause analysis
• 5+ years of system test experience
• Experience migrating test environments
• Deep understanding of Identity Providers (IdPs), authentication types/methods
• Functional verification and system test experience
