Your Role and Responsibilities
The Cloud Site Reliability Engineer is a critical role in the growing and dynamic IBM Business Analytics organization. In this role you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our Business Analytics Cloud offerings, ensuring that they are scalable, reliable, and secure.

You will work closely with other engineers, developers, support, and stakeholders to ensure that our Cloud offerings are performing optimally and that our customers have a seamless experience. In this role you will focus on the design, development, and delivery of automation to reduce toil, drive operational efficiency, improve consistency, maintain highest level of security & compliance while working to continually transform our Cloud offerings.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems. Act as a technical liaison between customers, delivery teams and support.
  • Develop and maintain automation, configuration management, and monitoring to reduce toil.
  • Implement, maintain, support systems for high availability, scalability and performance.
  • Continuously improve infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Evaluating key metrics (KPI) to identify areas of improvement proactively.
  • Work with security teams to ensure strict compliance with security standards and best practices.
  • Be passionate about learning & growing skills and putting into practice to grow success of the team and our clients. Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the public cloud solutions architects and SRE teams.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Cloud (IBM, AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Teraform, Containers, Orchestration
  • Scripting (Python, Ansible, Shell)
  • Deployment tools and processes, CI/CD Pipeline, Jenkins, RunDeck
  • Linux, Windows
  • Monitoring (SysDig, Mezmo (LogDNA), Instana)
  • Databases (MongoDB, DB2, SQL Server, Redis)
  • Troubleshooting (Problem, Incident & Root Cause Analysis)
  • Source Control (GitHub Enterprise, JIRA, ZenHub)
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Understanding of Infrastructure as a Service, Infrastructure as Code and related concepts
  • Persuasive and effective presenter for both written and verbal communications
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple initiatives and rapidly changing priorities
  • Cloud Architect - IBM Cloud or Azure, AWS certified equivalent preferred
  • Networking - Firewalls & Load Balancers (Netscaler, Vyatta, StrongSwan)
