Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Software Development Manager to join our IBM MQ Software as a Service development team. The role requires a good level of personal organization and the ability to work well within a distributed global team in a fast-paced and exciting environment. You will oversee multiple squads, ensure the timely delivery of committed functionality, and proactively manage risks and changes. The MQ SaaS team employs agile development practices with all team members actively engaged in the planning, development, testing and usability-related tasks owned and delivered by their 'Delivery Team'. Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic, highly motivated team players with cloud software skills/experience who demonstrate a genuine desire and aptitude to perform multi-disciplinary activities. Knowledge of continuous delivery techniques is important to ensure the stability of a live service. Successful candidate will be proficient in Agile Delivery practices and passionate about delivering on team objectives and sprint goals. Required technical and professional expertise
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of managerial experience (as a software engineering manager).
- Good knowledge of cloud technologies, including networking and security.
- Experience managing global teams.
- Ability to manage multiple teams and missions to foster a high-performing engineering culture.
- DevOps and Operational Experiences.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Software development experience in OOP (e.g. Java), Go, Python, SQL, and AWS.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps best practices.
- Experience with containerized (e.g.: Docker), cloud-based applications (e.g.: AWS, IBMcloud, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and message queues (MQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Proficient in agile development methodologies and tools.
