Your role and responsibilities
Senior AI Engineer, IBM Corporation, Herndon, VA (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted):
- Engage with government clients to understand their specific needs, objectives, and regulatory constraints. Create high-level architectural designs for AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning solutions, considering security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
- Decide on appropriate machine learning algorithms, models, and technologies, while ensuring they align with government guidelines.
- Lead the development of machine learning models using state-of-the-art frameworks and libraries.
- Work with advanced techniques, model ensembles, and hyperparameter tuning to optimize performance. Train machine learning models on government datasets and perform rigorous validation.
- Deploy models in secure government environments, complying with stringent security protocols.
- Develop processes for model retraining and maintenance.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and data scientists, helping them grow their technical skills across both machine learning and software development domains.
- Lead knowledge sharing sessions, code reviews, and technical workshops to foster a culture of continuous learning in AI, software engineering practices, and full stack development.
- Address ethical concerns including bias mitigation and algorithm fairness ensuring that solutions align with client values and policies.
- Utilize: Deep Learning, Machine Learning Algorithms, Generative AI Models, Natural language processing, API design/development, Complex Software architecture, Full Stack Development, Cloud infrastructure and hyper scalar technologies.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
