Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM is seeking a skilled Software Engineer specialized in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for a position in Spain Reporting to T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust infrastructure solutions using modern automation tools and practices, leveraging automation to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure IT environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructures. The ideal candidate should possess strong Linux system administration skills, proficiency in cloud platforms, programming experience in Python and Bash, knowledge of databases, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, and expertise in security practices. The candidate is expected to work closely with interdisciplinary engineering and research teams.

Good communication skills and the ability to handle fast-paced, complex work is essential.
A self-motivated and driven individual who can work independently as well as in multi-team settings.

5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure automation, or related roles.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and or equivalent work experience

Infrastructure as Code, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools.

Containerization and orchestrators: Docker, Kubernetes
Continuous Delivery/Integration: Tekton, Argo CD, Travis CI, etc

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, Azure, AWS)

Programming skills in Python, Bash, or other relevant languages.

Familiarity with database technologies and administration.
Source code management and proficient in GitHub
Monitoring tools, e.g, LogDNA, Sysdig, or similar tools.

Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.

Understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Extensive experience and proficiency in security principles, including secrets management, access control, identity management, network security, and vulnerability management.

Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure Automation Certifications).

Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in administrating and securing RHEL-based systems.

Advanced skills in Red Hat OpenShift.

Core capabilities in provisioning and maintaining Database.
Contributions in developer ecosystem/communities and open source projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Experience in working on Qiskit and demonstrated contributions to the SDK.
