In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Functional Tester with 1-3 years of experience in testing retail Point of Sale (POS) systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and documenting test cases to ensure the quality and functionality of our POS systems.Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, execute, and maintain test cases for retail POS systems, focusing on functional correctness and user experience.
  2. Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios.
  3. Conduct manual and automated testing of POS applications, including front-end and back-end functionalities.
  4. Identify, document, and track software defects, working with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
  5. Collaborate with the QA team to establish and maintain a robust test environment.
  6. Participate in release planning and provide input on testing strategies, ensuring they align with project goals.
  7. Perform regression testing following each software update or patch.
  8. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in retail POS testing and quality assurance.


Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Functional Tester, preferably with a focus on retail POS systems.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and life cycle.
  • Experience with test case management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Proficiency in SQL is a plus for database testing and validation.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies and experience working in an agile environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
