Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Process Equipment Engineer, who will be working with a world class team on bringing advanced process equipment and qualifying it as a process of record for next generation technologies. Constant industry research and the ability to be up to date with the latest semiconductor equipment & process advancements is part of this job. The ability and willingness to adapt to changing semiconductor technologies is important in this position. The hired candidate will have significant expertise and understanding of the state of the art semiconductor 300mm process equipment and fundamental principles in one or more of these process areas that include chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), wet etching/cleaning, insulator/dielectric deposition, metal deposition, epitaxial film growth, bonding, or anneal/rapid thermal process.

As part of this role, you will

-Work in IBM research center in Albany, NY as the primary work location and required to spend significant amount of time in fab and sub-fab.

-Work with equipment vendors, unit process engineers, equipment engineers, process management, and integration team in bringing up and qualifying semiconductor process equipment for Research and development.

- Lead the project of equipment install and qualification:

a.) Prepare schedule of key elements that need to be completed for a new equipment bring up, identify critical path (task dependencies), coordinate between teams to ready process and facilities for equipment install.

b.) During equipment install, Tier I activities, actively work with equipment engineering and provide process support to meet the Tier I milestone.

c.) During equipment install, drive Tier 2 activities through equipment vendor, equipment owner, and fab operations team.

d.) During equipment install, Tier 3 and beyond, drive process implementation as 'process of record' by working with equipment owner, process owner, process developer, integration, fab operations, and internal review boards.

- Read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, and structural schematics. Communicate project progress and updates to management and stakeholders. Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members. - Continuously work with unit process, fab operation, and equipment engineering teams and build strategy around equipment removal and equipment install.

- Develop relationship with equipment vendors and material suppliers to support new equipment install

You must be willing to work in Albany, NY, with occasional day travel to IBM research labs and infrequent overnight travel to various locations worldwide. (< 10%)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline
• 3+ year(s) of experience of qualifying semiconductor process equipment.
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Project Management

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• MS/PhD. degree in a science or engineering discipline
• 5+ year(s) of experience working on semiconductor process equipment in thin films, metal deposition, vacuum systems, or semiconductor equipment and processes.
