Your role and responsibilities
Role:
The Photo Director is a pivotal role at IBM Blue Studio, focusing on elevating the visual language and storytelling of the IBM brand. This leader will oversee the strategy, production, and execution of photographic assets, ensuring they align with IBM's design standards and brand narrative. The Photo Director will work closely with internal teams, external photographers, and creative partners to shape the visual identity of IBM across campaigns, digital platforms, publications, and other media.

As an advocate for high-quality and innovative imagery, the Photo Director will help define and implement photographic guidelines and maintain a consistent aesthetic across all brand touchpoints. This role demands a balance of creative vision, strategic thinking, and technical expertise, coupled with an ability to lead and inspire teams in producing visually compelling and effective content.
Responsibilities:
- Creative Leadership: Lead and inspire internal teams and external partners, including photographers, stylists, and post-production professionals, to deliver high-quality visual content.
- Project Oversight: Manage the production of photographic assets, from concept to delivery, ensuring projects are on time, within scope, and meet the highest standards of quality.
- Brand Consistency: Establish and maintain a cohesive visual style across campaigns and initiatives, ensuring consistency in tone, color, composition, and narrative.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, writers, marketing teams, and other creative leaders to align photography with broader creative and business goals.
- Innovation: Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative practices in photography to continuously elevate IBM's visual storytelling.
- Photo Editing: Direct and ensure the selection, editing, and optimization of imagery for various projects, maintaining technical and creative standards across platform-specific needs.
- Asset Management: Oversee the organization and archiving of photographic assets to ensure efficient retrieval and reuse.
- Generative AI Imagery: Collaborate with creative leads to explore and refine IBM's point of view on AI-driven photography. Work towards expanding IBM's image library by integrating generative AI imagery, ensuring alignment with brand and quality standards.

- Creative Expertise: Demonstrated excellence in photography direction, visual storytelling, and branding. Strong portfolio showcasing innovative and high-quality work.
- Leadership Experience: Solid experience leading photo direction, with a proven track record of managing teams and working with external partners.
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in photography, lighting, composition, and post-production techniques.
- Proficiency in relevant software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
- Collaboration Skills: Strong ability to work cross-functionally and effectively communicate creative ideas to stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to translate business objectives into compelling visual strategies.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Design, or a related field.
