Your Role and Responsibilities
As the Legal Technology Product Owner, you will serve as the bridge between our legal teams and technology developers. You will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the product backlog for various legal technology solutions, including matter management, document management, e-discovery, and other legal tech applications. You will guide the development and implementation of innovative legal tech solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall effectiveness. This role requires a blend of legal expertise, technical acumen, and strong project management skills to ensure that our products meet the needs of our users and align with our strategic objectives. Your expertise will ensure that our tools meet the needs of our legal professionals and support efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Vision:
• Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for legal technology solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable product features.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities within the legal tech landscape.
• Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in legal technology, including AI, machine learning, and data analytics.

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Serve as the primary point of contact between legal teams, IT, and other stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on product needs and performance.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to ensure alignment on product goals and gather input for feature prioritization.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.

Product Implementation & Management:
• Create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
Define user stories and acceptance criteria to guide development teams.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including implementation partners, UX/UI designers, developers, and quality assurance, to ensure successful product development and delivery.
• Advocate for the user experience by conducting user testing sessions and gathering feedback to inform product iterations.
• Analyze user behavior and feedback to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall usability of legal technology solutions.
• Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users to ensure effective adoption of new tools.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of legal tech products and initiatives.
• Regularly report on product performance, user satisfaction, and areas for improvement to stakeholders.
• Stay informed on industry developments and emerging technologies that could impact product offerings.

Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure that all legal technology solutions comply with relevant legal standards and regulations.
• Identify and assess potential risks associated with product implementation and usage, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for legal technology applications.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a legal or technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of legal technologies, including: Matter Management Systems, Document Management Systems, E-discovery tools, Contract Management Software, Legal Research Tools, e-Billing Solutions, Collaboration Tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Advanced Degree Preferred
