Your Role and Responsibilities
This is a newly created role, born out of client need for additional expertise and services from our IBMers. You will be the first hire into this new team/function therefore initially will be very hands on, interacting with clients on client site to perform extended services past hardware and system installs. You will be working along side our field engineers who will hand over to you once physical installs are completed. You will perform tasks such as (but not limited to):

  • Software Configuration
  • Software and System Migration activities
  • Data Migrations
  • Account and Project Management
  • Escalation Management
  • Client, Partner and IBM Stakeholder Management
  • Provide Reporting to agreed cadence
Over time you will build up a small team of technical experts to perform a subset of these duties, allowing you to act more as facilitator/project manager and work closely on customer satisfaction, complex technical problem solving, critical situation management to name a few.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

You will have had at least 5 years + experience working in a very similar role
Deep and broad hands on technical experience building, configuring, tuning and running high workload high uptime traditional mainframe and modern mainframe interfaces to cloud and AI applications, . ideally specifically with z/OS, Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE.

  • Strong Verbal and written skills
To satisfy client requirements you must hold AU Citizenship, ideally with NV1 clearance and be willing to travel to client sites as needed.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Customer Support Operations
  • Hands on Lab Services experience
  • Excellent Problem Solving skills

Preferred IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE Customer Environment system design experience and skills:
• I/O subsystem design - IOCDS creation/Adapter allocation
• LPAR definition - Processor/Storage allocation
• z/OS, Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE configuration
• Hardware Configuration (HCD) use on IBM Z
• IBM Dynamic Partition Manager (DPM) knowledge and experience
• IBM Secure Service Container (SSC) deployment
• Hardware Management Console (HMC) and Central Processor Complex (CPC) customer network integration
• HMC configuration and integration into Customer Problem Reporting system (automation)
• Trusted Key Entry console (TKE) configuration
• Open Systems Adapter (OSA) configuration
• Familiarity with the physical install process for IBM Z/LinuxOne machines and the configuration detail required by IBM SSRs to complete the installation
• IBM Z Sysplex design and configuration - Coordinated Timing Network (CTN) and Coupling Structures detail
• IBM Z Cryptography/Encryption configuration
• Management and implementation of customer driven IBM Z Capacity On Demand/Flexible Capacity/Model Conversion offerings
• The use of IBM Resource Link and all other IBM internal IBM Z/LinuxONE technical information sources
