Introduction
An Instructional Designer is responsible for creating compelling learning activities and course content, working with subject matter experts to identify training needs, applying instructional design theories and methods, and utilizing multimedia tools to enhance the learning process. In this role the candidate will be able to design meaningful learning experiences working alongside on important components like project management, relationship management, research, etc.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Designs persona-based educational content to develop clients, partners, and internal employees.
- Defines and documents learning objectives aligned with learning needs.
- Conducts research and collaborates directly with subject matter experts.
- Identifies best modality for delivery and leveraging content development tools available.
- Designs and develops engaging, meaningful, creative instructional material from start to finish. Instructional materials include self-paced courses, instructor-led courses, curriculum, student guides, and other training materials as needed based on adult-learning best practices.
- Manages content development timeline to ensure timely delivery of designs.
- Facilitates learning experiences as needed.
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills which can be leveraged to influence and educate key internal stakeholders about decisions and strategies.
- Defines tasks clearly, focusing on one personal at a time, utilizes standard processes and tools to complete tasks efficiently, ensures tasks are well-structures and aligned with project goals.
- Collaborates and consults with delivery team to ensure that content is effectively marketed and socialized to appropriate persona
- Works under the guidance of more senior team members.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 2-5 years of industry experience in instructional design
- In-depth understanding of instructional design models and learning theories
- Understanding of Bloom's taxonomy
- Concrete verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of developing content for SaaS industry and software products
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in creating content to support self-paced and instructor-led trainings
- Ability to navigate learning management systems
- Clear and effective curriculum-planning skills
- Strong project timeline planning skills
- Proven experience in video editing using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, etc.)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Self-starter able to come up to speed on complex, difficult concepts with minimal assistance.
- Team player with solid communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of enterprise IT organizational, business, and technical environments.
- General understanding of basic financial concepts such as general ledger, budget, forecast and cost.
- General understanding of IT infrastructure concepts such as server, storage, virtualization and software applications.
- Experience with Apptio tools and certifications.
- Experience with creating and maintaining persona-based education content to teach Apptio customers, partners, and Aptian's about products.
- Ability to evaluate the impact of content, including usage, satisfaction, and impact on persona.
- Commitment to develop a trusting partnership with stakeholders to identify and scale out learning solutions that meet persona needs and accelerate the global impact of the education services team.
- Commitment to represent the Education Services team on cross-functional projects.
