India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of IBM Systems world-wide technology development lab. Established in 1996, the Lab is headquartered in India's Silicon Valley and startup hub - Bengaluru, with a strong presence in Pune and Hyderabad. Developers at ISDL deliver technology innovations across the entire Systems portfolio - z Systems, Power / OpenPOWER Systems and Storage. The team here works across the entire stack from processor design, firmware, operating system to software defined storage. The lab also focuses on innovations, thanks to the creative energies of the teams. The lab has contributed over 400+ patents in cutting edge technologies and inventions so far.While computing veers towards cognitive, cloud, mobile, social, and security, the lab has significantly contributed to not just new products focused in these areas, but has also ushered in new development models such as Agile, Design Thinking and DevOps.

Your role and responsibilities
As zPDT system administrator you will provide an efficient, productive and secure development, test and simulation environment for the IBM zSystems firmware development teams. Besides system management you will also be responsible for the tools and scripts that are required to run and setup the systems.
Responsibilities:
As System Administrator of the zPDT hosts you will
Install and maintain different flavours of Linux, sepcifically RHEL Ubuntu, SLES on x86 and other platforms.
Install security fixes and regular OS patch updates
Configure shared file systems like NFS, GSA server and clients
Configure filesystems and volume groups
Install and configure the project-specific applications
Install and configure tools for zPDT development
Configure access and user management
Configure network connections
Maintain a secure configuration
Work with the hardware administrators to reconfigure existing hosts and install new servers
be responsible for the availability and normal responsiveness of the system as their administrator
Building the tools, scripts, and operating procedures for continuous improvement
Required education

Required technical and professional expertise
- 3+ years Linux administration skills preferably on RHEL, Ubuntu or SLES.
- Experienced in VMware virtualisation - Deploy, configure, and manage, and virtual machines.
- Extensive knowledge of Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting.
- Experienced in installing and configuring open-source tools.
- Good knowledge in Ansible Playbooks and other automation skills.
- Ability to debug network or load performance issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
Preferred technical and professional experience
Network configurationKnowledge in CI/CD and pipeline automation toolsknowledge about Directory-Services (mostly LDAP)PAM and NSSShared Filesystems: GSA, NFS
