Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a full-time IBM i Software Developer to join our High Availability/Disaster Recovery team working closely with our worldwide IBM Consultants around the globe to maintain and enhance our PowerHA Tools offerings. PowerHA Tools for IBM i has been adopted as the umbrella term for the various management tools developed by IBM Systems Technology Services.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects, within a close-knit, helpful team to maintain, develop and test critical HA/DR management software and capabilities. You will also collaborate closely with IBM i, IBM Storage and Cloud Development teams to gain experience with pre-release technologies, grow skills and develop new service offerings along with working with post-sales support teams.
To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter and willing to learn independently, but with the support of the team. You must have the flexibility to context-switch quickly between multiple technologies, solutions, and project requirements. You'll need a proven track record of delivering performant usable code with quality on project timelines for IBM i environments. The developer candidate must have a working knowledge of IBM i, IBM External Storage (FlashSystems and DS8000) and Copy Services (Flashcopy and Remote Copy) for external attached Storage. All program communications are encrypted so building source and target encryption services for new products is also critical.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Must have some experience in each of the following skills:
- IBM i and External Storage Configurations (DS8000 & FlashSystems)
- IBM Storage Copy Services (Flashcopy, Replication and Safeguarded Copy)
- Programming Languages (C and Java)
- Programming with Encrypted Communications and Services
