Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM event team plans and executes best-in-class virtual, in-person and hybrid events that deliver new pipeline, build brand awareness, and offer outstanding attendee experiences. Delivering great client events involves many stakeholders and the event strategists leads the charge in understanding business requirements and IBM clients and partners and integrating them in the event experience, providing critical leadership and partnership across marketing functions, sales and agency partners to bring the event plan to life. The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about B2B events, detailed orientated, strategic, motivated and dedicated to delivering great attendee experiences with measurable impact.

Key responsibilities:

• Co-owns and contributes to the optimization of events to meet business objectives based on stakeholder feedback
• Partners with other team members and key stakeholders, including demand strategy, digital & social, top account marketing & field marketing to help define objectives, target audience and develop plan including requirements for targeted audience actions
• Contributes to the design of event attendee experience within the client journey, based on standard event kits
• Manages post event outcomes and performance with relevant stakeholders (i.e. field marketing)
• Partners with the event specialist to oversee the end to end process and tools, as applicable
• Ensures all legal, compliance, finance, and other required processes efficiently completed
Impact on Business: Accountable for results and for activities and/or projects involving multi-functional teams. Regularly participates in overall functional program planning. And demonstrates discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance to IBM
Problem Solving: Recognizes complex problems related to functional objectives. Applies creativity and judgement to developmental work on different projects within the business environment. Analyzes situations and contributes to the implementation of solutions or development of new systems elements, procedures or processes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 8+ years of experience planning and executing a wide range of b2b events
  • Strong project management experience, adherence to deadlines and ability to think strategically and to manage resources (time and budget) to achieve objectives
  • Experience with event technology systems such as registration sites, event management platforms and mobile apps
  • Avid learner who consistently expands knowledge to gain new skills and expertise, predicting needs and preventing issues
  • Responsible team player demonstrating ownership and accountability, strong problem solving and negotiating skills to directly influence people outside function.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Master's degree in a related field, preferred
  • Experience with event and/or marketing platforms including Rainfocus, CVENT, Airtable, Marketo, etc. preferred
  • High energy, independent worker, self-starter, resourceful, and problem-solver
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure, managing resources and several projects simultaneously
  • Provides advice and guidance to other professionals
