Introduction
We are now accepting applications for students to become an IBM Global Real Estate (GRE) Professional Intern for summer of 2025. Students with varying backgrounds and professional interests and curiosities are encouraged to apply for this unique paid internship experience.
As a GRE Intern you will collaborate with several GRE teams including Design & Construction (D&C), Facilities Management (FM), Strategy & Transactions (S&T), Business Operations, Portfolio Leads, Finance, etc. You will spend time with various teams and have a weekly interlock with the Real Estate Lead for UKI and Northern Europe to ensure there is structure and value to the internship.
In your role you will be supported by mentors and coaches who will encourage you to challenge the norm, investigate ideas outside of your role, and come up with creative solutions resulting in ground-breaking impact for the wider business, other business units, and their customers. This position is UK based at either IBM Hursley (Hampshire) or IBM 20 York Road (Waterloo, London), there will be travel to both sites.

Your role and responsibilities
- Supporting the continuation of operations across our portfolio
- Spend time with FM, S&T, D&C, Business Operations and Country leads to understand the different GRE components and how they link in
- Attend meetings with our suppliers to understand services, relationship and management
- Shadow Real Estate Market Lead in meetings and have weekly interlock
- Identify, vet, and implement process improvements, including documentation standards and metrics where appropriate
- Look for opportunities and ownership of initiatives to run
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Strong data and analytical skills.
- Project/Program management experience with a focus on business operations.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Knowledge of capital planning process and understanding of drivers of real estate capital consumption.
- Organizational skills to efficiently bring together all stakeholders to achieve business goal of accurate capital planning and forecasting.
- Experience with relevant communication applications such as Slack, Teams, etc.
- Demonstrated accountability and adaptability with willingness to readily and voluntarily take ownership of highly challenging tasks and problems, even beyond initial scope of responsibility.
- A passion for innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to understand and assimilate different points of view.
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work with individuals, strengthening relationships to achieve win-win solutions.
