Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM's procurement function oversees $17B in annual spend for IBM and nearly $100B in spend for our BPO clients through our procurement BPO delivery team and seeks to continually drive savings and increased value. IBM procurement provides IBM and our clients with end to end S2P services including spend analytics, category strategy, strategic sourcing across multiple categories, tactical buying and procurement operations, all governed by robust and adaptable processes and procedures.

IBM is currently undergoing a procurement transformation that will transform internal procurement, making it an exemplar of digital procurement featuring IBM's automation and AI capabilities and leverage this Client Zero environment as the catalyst to bring these capabilities to our procurement BPO clients.
The Leader of the Vendor Risk Management function will be charged with building and establishing our global vendor risk management program; establishing an integrated risk assessment methodology, identifying, assessing, and mitigating vendor risks; ensuring vendor associated risks are aligned to enterprise risk tolerances. This leader oversees both the assessment of new suppliers as well as ongoing monitoring of existing suppliers. They will partner with the process and policies team to define lightweight but effective policies, procedures, and controls to drive global consistency and approach. They will foster a collaborative approach to vendor risk management engaging and partnering with other control functions including, but limited to, legal, data privacy, trust and compliance, security, finance, CISO, supply chain, audit and enterprise risk.
Keys to success in this role will include using automation and AI to identify risks based on a robust risk profile, developing predictive dashboards based on facts and data trends, efficiency of supplier monitoring and assessment, and ease of integration with new ventures and acquisitions.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, information technology, or risk management.
- A strong understanding of risk management principles, particularly in the context of vendor relationships.
- Experience working in fast-paced variable environment with competing priorities and requiring frequent multi-tasking.
- Commitment to continuous learning and an interest in creative problem solving. Proven track record of partnering with senior stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated experience driving change and transformation and a passion to undertake larger transformational efforts.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing vendor risk programs effectively.
- Experience in developing and implementing vendor risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to vendor management (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, etc.).
