Your Role and Responsibilities
As part of IBM Z Developer Experience and AI working on watsonx Code Assistant for IBM Z Refactoring Assistant, you will join our mission and commitment in delivering state of the art software technology in our modern tools platform for working with large scale enterprise customers in their journey to Hybrid Cloud. Z Refactoring Assistant is a tool that helps developers identify parts of an application to refactor into modular and reusable services. In the journey to application modernization and refactoring, loosely coupled services can provide small and focused functionality through a published interface. Services help enterprises to adapt to modern software design and accelerate their application development with more flexibility. As an Full Stack Software Developer, you are part of a highly focused, self-managed Agile team who designs, develops, tests & deploys applications. Your expertise in designing and building high performance, reliable enterprise applications allow you to build the services, integration, data, analytics and algorithms required to support next generation experiences. You interface with enterprise architects and delivery teams to shape, estimate, and define the programs that turn ideas and prototypes into fully functional systems. As a member of a dynamic team in supporting the delivery of enterprise software for a large user base, you demonstrate leadership, technical curiosity, a self-starter, creativity as well as forward thinking with a passion for growth and innovation.

The tribe has embraced the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology for agile teams, and the Whitewater tool set, making extensive use of GitHub, ZenHub, Travis, and Slack. The team culture is truly collaborative with an emphasis on working together to deliver value, sharing knowledge, and demonstrating the flexibility to pick up whatever is the next priority on the backlog. The following set of required and preferred skills represents an ideal, and the most important attribute is to embrace best of breed engineering and development practices to craft well tested, and high-quality code.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 10 years experience as a Full Stack Software Developer
  • At least 5 years experience in Java programming language
  • Experienced building Microservices & REST architectures
  • Experience with Front End Development programming languages and design Frameworks
  • Knowledgeable in Docker Containerization
  • A self-starter & ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Quick learner
  • Experience in Spring Boot
  • Experience in Agile SDLC (design, development, test and deploy)
  • Preferred education; Computer Systems Eng., Comp Sci., Software Engineering.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Working knowledge of OrientDB and SQL Servers
  • Working knowledge of Data Science Libraries: Pandas, Numpy, Sckit-Learn and NetworkX
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices
  • Working knowledge of Test Automation Tools
  • Design Thinking Experience
  • Experience in Python Programming Language
  • Experience with Carbon, React, and Angular Design Systems
  • Experience with VS Code Extension Development
  • Experience with Eclipse Plugin Development.
