Your Role and Responsibilities
- IBM Research Brazil is seeking motivated interns to conduct applied research on Software Engineering (SE) in Sustainable Material Discovery. The candidates selected for this position will contribute to the research and development of innovative services and tools to help subject matter experts on generating and evaluating their hypotheses towards the discovery of new sustainable materials.
- For this internship opportunity, we are looking for undergraduate students interested in working with Human-Computer
- Interaction or Software Engineering. The intern will work on existing projects which have a well-defined agenda,deliverables, and schedules. Those projects can be related to AI-assisted Decision Making, Human-AI Co-creation in Scientific Discovery, Knowledge Lifecycle Management, Flexible Application-specific Knowledge Bases, and Engineering of AI-based Systems. Moreover, the intern is going to acquire experience working with interdisciplinary research teams at IBM Research Brazil and IBM worldwide. At IBM, we encourage taking internal courses and attending talks/seminars to improve skills in key areas. The intern will, therefore, be able to learn, apply the acquired knowledge in real scenarios, produce usefulassets and move forward the state of art through academic writing.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Be an advanced student of a technical/college career such as: Computer Science, Computing Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent.
- Be a regular student.
- Knowledge in programming languages, such as Python (preferable), Java, and JavaScript.
- Commitment with software engineering good practices.
- Advanced English
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Familiarity with knowledge representation, knowledge reasoning, machine learning and data integration is a plus.
- Familiarity with web development, Angular, d3, Typescript, Node.js programming, and IHC techniques.
