Introduction
The IBM Cloud team supports clients who deliver mission critical processes and leverage the latest innovations in the Cloud catalogue. The team supports a combination of Public, Hybrid, and Multicloud clients who are utilizing the flexibility of IBM Cloud to build and run their business anywhere. IBM Cloud allows deployment on multiple clouds (IBM, AWS, Azure or Google) and systems (IBM Z®, IBM Power® or x86). Public cloud with industry-specific requirements and Watsonx.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Database Cloud Support Engineer, you will provide technical support to Database clients. You will work in close collaboration with team members, other IT organizations, key stakeholders and business partners to meet the needs of the business as well as that of the customers.

Key tasks include:

  • Collaborate with other Database Engineering teams e.g. for knowledge transfer of new product/technologies
  • Help provide solutions when working with customers to identify and remediate issues in the Database instances
  • Create documentation, and provide oversight and peer review of change control documents written by other team members
This position is Monday to Friday with flexibility to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday for holiday coverage and requires working onsite 3 days per week at our Mulhuddart location in Dublin.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 2 or more years of working closely with database technology
  • 2 or more years experience working directly with customers
  • Experience with Database Design and Management
  • Experience with any of the following: Cloudant, MongoDB, Postgres, MySQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elastic, IBM Cloudant, Db2 offerings
  • Great communication and soft skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Solid experience creating technical documentation for current and future state database support needs
  • Skill in problem identification, troubleshooting and resolution of database issues
  • Ability to both work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a similar field
