Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a Technical Writer to join the TechXchange Digital Program team. This role is central to ensuring the success of our digital presence, with a primary focus on the TechXchange Conference web experience and ongoing program content. You will write, edit, and optimize developer-facing content that is both technically accurate and engaging. This includes campaign-style content for product and event marketing, blog posts for program visibility, and structured web content that supports clear navigation and comprehension.

You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders from product marketing, developer advocacy, events, and digital teams to ensure all TechXchange content is high quality, aligned to our tone of voice, and resonates with a highly technical audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and create compelling written content for the TechXchange Conference web pages, including session highlights, speaker bios, event themes, and calls to action.
    Write campaign-style content that resonates with developers and technologists, supporting key program and conference goals.
  • Develop and maintain blog content that communicates the value of the TechXchange Program and keeps the community informed and engaged.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), developer advocates, and product teams to translate complex technical topics into understandable, useful content.
  • Help shape and evolve the tone, messaging, and positioning of the TechXchange Program through your writing.
  • Ensure all content aligns with IBM brand guidelines and voice, while staying developer-centric and authentic.
  • Edit and proofread content created by others to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Monitor content performance and optimize based on engagement metrics.

Required education

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, content marketing, or developer-focused communications.
  • Proven ability to write for a technical audience (developers, engineers, IT professionals).
  • Experience writing content that supports both product understanding and event engagement.
  • Strong understanding of developer communities, open source ecosystems, and technical content formats.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms and basic HTML/Markdown knowledge.
  • Comfortable collaborating across teams and working with stakeholders at various levels.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience writing content for large tech conferences or developer programs.
  • Familiarity with IBM technologies or similar enterprise tech stacks (cloud, AI, automation, etc.).
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and performance optimization for digital content.
