Introduction
We seek a skilled COBOL 85/400 Developer to join our team, specializing in IBM iSeries (AS/400) platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL programming, a deep understanding of the IBM iSeries environment, DB2, and flat file storage, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code.
In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

1. Develop, test, implement, and maintain COBOL 85/400 applications and functionalities on the IBM iSeries platform.
2. Analyze, design, and modify existing COBOL programs to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and provide technical guidance.
4. Ensure all COBOL applications comply with established coding standards and best practices.
5. Perform thorough testing of new and modified applications, troubleshooting and resolving any identified bugs or issues.
6. Document all development processes, including design, implementation, and testing phases, for future reference and knowledge sharing.
7. Participate in the on-call rotation for critical system support and issue resolution.
8. Keep up to date with the latest trends and advancements in COBOL400 and IBM iSeries technologies.

Required education
Associate's Degree/College Diploma
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
2. Proven experience in COBOL 85/400 development, ideally within an IBM iSeries environment.
3. Strong SQL and database management knowledge in IBM DB2/400.
4. Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools like Rational Developer for i (RDi).
5. Familiarity with IBM iSeries concepts such as job queues, subsystems, and performance monitoring.
Preferred technical and professional experience
1. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex applications.
2. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
3. Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
