Introduction
IBM Instana is seeking skilled back-end developers to join our team. The ideal candidates will have expertise in Java and experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and real-time monitoring. Additional expertise in Node.js, Kafka, Kubernetes, Helm, ClickHouse, or Elasticsearch is preferred. You will work on building and optimizing scalable, high-performance monitoring systems that process millions of spans, traces, and metrics, providing actionable APM insights for our customers.
Your role and responsibilities
Role: Back-End Developer
Responsibilities:
- Backend Development: Write, test, and optimize distributed systems for performance and scalability.
- Event-Driven Architecture: Work with Kafka to manage high-throughput messaging and event processing.
- Cloud Systems: Manage scalable systems deployed in the cloud, working with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for deployment and orchestration.
- Database Management: Optimize systems using Elasticsearch, Cassandra, and ClickHouse for real-time data processing.
- Collaborate & Improve: Work in an agile environment, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to system optimizations.

Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- 5-10 years of experience with Java (JDK 1.8+) and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Node.js, Kafka, Dropwizard (or Spring Boot), Kubernetes, and Helm charts.
- Experience in Docker, cloud deployment, database and high-scale data processing.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience with APM tools and distributed tracing.
- Familiarity with React.js, Go, and Python.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and agile development.
