Your Role and Responsibilities
This position is for a Cloud Engineer supporting the client commercial cloud customers who reside in Amazon AWS (Gov/DoD). The client is a managed service provider (MSP) for Army IT systems and we support enterprise applications owners in migrating their systems into Amazon AWS and also provide modernization and sustainment services to support their applications. This position is for an engineer to support these applications from a migration, modernization, and sustainment role.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their application environments, evaluate any architectural changes they may need, and develop an architecture that meets the application requirements and utilizes a cloud native approach as much as possible.
  • Prepare and submit build and process documentation internally and with external providers to facilitate application deployment and upgrades.
  • Deploy and sustain cloud infrastructure to support customer applications.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of customer enclaves.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of customer application issues to include network, storage, operating system, and application level analysis.
  • Amazon AWS Portal administration in support of the client cloud customers add/modify/delete AWS resources, configuration of networking, alerting, and notifications, and general oversight of AWS resources.
  • Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Security Clearance: ActiveDoD Secret Clearance Required.
Required Certifications: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification.
Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) a computing environment certification as defined in DoD 8570.01-M, for this position those requirements are the following certifications: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, Any of the AWS Specialty Certifications.
  • Senior level Cloud Engineer experience within AWS.
  • Experience with AWS services to include: EC2, Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudTrail,
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Puppet, Chef, etc.)
  • Experience effectively managing multiple large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack network, storage, server, and applications.
  • Knowledge and implementation/operations experience with Amazon AWS cloud resources.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.

Intermediate level LCAT Bachelors +5 or Associates +7
Senior level LCAT Masters +10 or Bachelors +12
