Your Role and Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting a Application Consultant - Mainframe Modernization for a 18 months fixed term contract, based in Sydney, Australia.

Should have knowledge and expertise in Westpac's payments domain. Deep understanding of Fusion Global PAY plus along with its integration capabilities, which are essential for modernizing payment legacy systems ensuring they meet current standards and regulations of ISO 20022.

As a consultant, one should be able to lead pivotal projects that focus on implementation and orchestration of Fusion Global PAY plus (GPP) systems. Endeavor with WBC to integrate GPP with a suite of legacy systems including DE, CM, AO, FTH, PPS, BIS, Vostro etc. Should have hands-on experience with the legacy applications which equips him with the technical expertise and business acumen necessary to seamlessly integrate GPP Fusion into the broader payment's ecosystem. This includes the development of APIs for customer account lookup, balance enquiry, FTH posting, customer advising, PR message, and PR event storage services.

Responsible for acceleration initiatives, such as the configuration of IBM Z products, Git migrations, and the installation of production-level toolchains, showcases proficiency in modern IDEs, script building, pipeline definitions, and deployment automation. To Ingest DevOps transformation and adopt a CI/CD pipeline to facilitate migration from legacy to open-source systems as part of modernization.

As an Application Consultant, the detailed responsibilities include -

  • Set up, expand, and lead the development teams to increase the velocity of Delivery in Domestic payments applications.
  • Work with the Clients to handle change requests and enhancements for the business on the Payments application continuous delivery.
  • Analyse functional requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  • Take the responsibility of a project Co-Ordinator handling the delivery and resource management. Ensure offshore onshore coordination.
  • Design and Develop technical solutions. Ensure technology solutions are aligned with the Bank Group's enterprise architecture
  • Complete and oversee project work stream deliverables including quality control and sign off for area of accountability
  • Supervise the offshore staff by prioritising, assigning and assist reviewing work and deliverables according to specified timeframes
  • Provide ongoing assistance to support teams for functionality released into production
  • Provide support and participate in testing activities including unit testing, system testing and user acceptance testing
  • Work closely with stakeholders and change management to identify impacts to business processes as a result of system or application changes
  • Identify project delivery issues/risks, assist with mitigation strategies, and escalate as appropriate
  • Work within a team environment and instil the group values of trust and team spirit
  • Evaluate effectiveness of SDLC tools, processes and methodologies, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Enables, motivates, directs and continuously develops a committed, empowered, and high-performing workforce. Creates an environment and culture that supports this workforce.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
To ensure success in the role you will possess the following skills -
  • Should have previously worked with Westpac in Payments platforms - Domestic payments/FGPP/NPP/NGS etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Edition (IDzEE), Application Delivery Foundation for z/OS (ADFz), Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence (ADDI), GitHub/GitLab, IBM, DBB Artifactory, IDEs (Eclipse/VS Code) etc.
  • Strong exposure/hands on Installation of ADDI, implementing/proposing IBM Git based CI/CD pipeline solutions for building Z based applications as part of mainframe modernization.
  • Strong expertise in delivering solutions across the Banking industry vertical.
  • Possesses techno-functional expertise in the Banking domain, specifically in the payments platform, with extensive experience in system analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience working with mainframes, encompassing a wide range of skills and roles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of payments architecture and design patterns.
  • Technical and functional exposure to many domestic payments' application hosts.
  • Strong technical skills in IBM Mainframes including PL/1, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, IMS, EZTRIEVE, QMF, ENDEVOR, CHANGEMAN, ABENDAID, FILEMANAGER, XPEDITOR, FILEAID, TWS, REMEDY, SERVICENOW, MYSERVICE, JIRA, SPLUNK, and more.
