Your Role and Responsibilities
The TBM Council is seeking a TBM Council Leader in APAC to develop and scale our community and adoption in the region. With over 15,000 global members and scaling fast, the TBM Council is a non-profit, open ecosystem, underwritten by IBM. The Council staff are full-time employees of IBM who manage all aspects of the foundation's operations, strategy, membership, events, certification, and standards, working in partnership with the TBMC board and community members. This is a new role on the Council's leadership team, who will spearhead our member recruitment, engagement, content, programs, and other elements for the ANZ market, scaling to broader APAC countries.

The TBM Council Leader for ANZ/APAC serves as the face and voice of the TBM Council in the region. Working closely with global TBM Council leadership, Council Board of Directors, and IBM executives to set the vision and priorities for the TBM discipline and Council in the region. This leader is not only a visionary but also engages deeply with the CIO community and all C-level leaders across organizations.

The Leader is responsible for leading the overall direction of the Council in the region and relevant countries, guiding its reputation and market credibility, recruiting its membership and board members, and expanding the Council's reach across the country, and potentially the region. This leader will help reboot and re-energize our Regional Advisory Board (RAB).

In addition, this leader will manage the financial and operational model of the Council in the region, ensuring the operations are funded appropriately and providing clear budget requests to the TBM Council leadership and IBM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as face and voice of the TBM Council - an executive spokesperson, speaker, thought leader, executive sponsor, etc.
  • Manage and guide overall direction of the TBM Council in ANZ/APAC, including all membership experience, education initiatives, standards development, and community programs.
  • Manage the creation and publication of regional content, such as articles, thought leadership, and other assets.
  • Recruit and maintain critical executive relationships.
  • Recruit and manage ANZ and APAC-based partner members, collaborating with our partner ecosystem/growth leader.
  • Set the vision for the discipline of TBM and for the council in ANZ/APAC.
  • Collaborate closely with the global TBM Council Executive Director and General Manager of Growth Programs.
  • Manage the Regional Advisory Board, working closely with the RAB Chairperson and ensuring alignment with the Global Board and a unified Council mission.
  • Manage and own new revenue streams for TBM Council in the region, including partner sponsors, events, certifications, and other programs.
  • Drive the strategy and plan for the future direction of the Council in the region in alignment with the global Council.
  • Collaborate regularly with other regional TBM Council leaders and the overall Council leadership, reporting priorities, status, and metrics.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience at a high-tech, SaaS, or B2B company, ideally serving in roles across IT, operations, and product.
  • Understanding of the TBM model and discipline and, ideally, experience working with both leaders and practitioners of TBM.
  • Experience working with an open source or other industry community and ability to build engagement and scale with a community.
  • Operational knowledge of IT infrastructure domains, including data centers, network / communications, server utilization, virtual environments, storage, public and private cloud usage and billing, application development and maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; English fluency a must and other Asian-Pacific language skills a plus.
  • Proven track record of working with a partner ecosystem, building collaborative partnerships and relationships.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global environment
  • Ability to influence and help communicate the organization's direction and ensure results are achieved.
  • Entrepreneurial in mindset, great analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Deep understanding of ANZ and APAC business culture and ability to navigate the unique challenges of bridging regional executives and practitioners with global communities and Council teams.
  • Strong operational acumen with proven experience developing, managing, and continuously approving business processes and operational workflows.
  • Executive presence and ability to engage up and down the organization with confidence and poise.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% through region and globally.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of FinOps, SAFe and other related disciplines is an advantage. Former experience as a TBM Office manager or director preferred.
