As an IBM Marketing Information Architecture Intern, you'll work collaboratively, driving work that addresses a strategic business challenge facing our team: helping to turn our vast collection of content into an easily understandable system that supports our visitors' key needs. In addition to your daily work, the internship includes educational, networking, and social activities. This is a highly visible intern program with leadership exposure and mentorship throughout the summer.

This role supports our IBM.com team, which is responsible for continually advancing our site experience to delight visitors, enable them to easily complete their objectives, and compel them to raise their hands and engage with the IBM team. As an Information Architect intern, you would sit within IBM.com's Web Design team and may drive efforts around:
  • Enhancing site performance by architecting successful user journeys
  • Evaluating our site structure and customer-facing taxonomies
  • Defining and managing key on-page linking patterns that are central to IA and site navigation
  • Outlining global and local navigation patterns on our site
  • Performing content inventories, audits and analysis to build page-level hierarchies

This role is based in Austin, TX.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited University
  • Available for an internship in Summer 2025
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree and a rising senior for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Basic knowledge of Information Architecture or Content Strategy
  • Passionate about structuring and organizing systems and large data sets
  • Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A strategic, consultative, data-driven mindset

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Pursuing a Master's or graduate degree and available for a full-time opportunity starting between January 2026 and August 2026
  • Basic knowledge of web strategy, SEO, web design, user experience, or user research
  • Pursuing a degree in Information Architecture, Information Studies, User Experience, or similar
  • Basic experience designing and building webpages with complex sitemaps
  • Basic knowledge of Figma
