DevOps Software Engineer

General Description:
We are seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to join our Computational Physics division, where our DevOps team provides software development support services to both software engineers and physicists. Our focus also includes platform management, build and release management, and automation for scientific computing.
In this role, you will work closely with developers and researchers, maintaining and improving software development infrastructure, troubleshooting build and deployment issues, and ensuring that software tools and environments remain efficient and reliable.

Essential Duties:
Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred).
Manage automated transfer of software projects and artifacts across air-gap boundaries.

Develop and manage build, release, and packaging workflows.
Automate software development and deployment processes.
Troubleshoot issues in development environments across Windows, Linux, and OSX.
Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to optimize workflows.
Manage internal development tooling, including Artifactory and Conda package repositories.
Ensure security best practices in software build and deployment.

Required Skills:
CI/CD pipelines
Software packaging and dependency management (Conda or npm preferred)
Build and release tooling
Scripting and automation
Python programming
Docker containerization
Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting is desired
Familiarity with artifact management (e.g., JFrog Artifactory) is desired
Understanding of security best practices in software development is desired
Experience working in research or scientific computing environments is desired
CompTIA Security+ certification or an active security clearance is desired
Windows administration for software development is desired

Required Education:
BS + 2 years of experience, or MS in computer science or related field. Candidates with different experience levels will be considered for other positions.

Physical Requirements:
This is an on-site position due to the need to work with air-gapped networks and sensitive information.

Special Requirements:
US Citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance as required.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $99,705 - $124,683 + bonus + benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
