Summary:

The Associate Compensation Analyst provides analytical support for the administration and delivery of HHMI's compensation programs. They will perform external market analysis, validate internal equity, participate in salary surveys, stay current on market or regulatory changes, prepare job descriptions, and assist the compensation team with day-to-day compensation program administration. They will collaborate with the compensation team and HR Business Partners to support compensation programs.

This role reports to HHMI's Headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland, three days a week and reports to the Senior Manager, Compensation Programs.

What you'll do:

  • Provide analytical and administrative support to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of compensation programs and operations.
  • Conduct data analysis for compensation projects, market studies, and salary surveys, providing insights and recommendations on salary grades, job classifications, and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Maintain job description library and assist with developing new job descriptions as needed.
  • Conduct quarterly review of FLSA salary threshold requirements.
  • Assist in determining FLSA classification status to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Review and validate data for Workday integration, troubleshooting errors to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare and proofread high-quality reports, presentations, employee communications, and compensation materials.
  • Assist in developing compensation training materials for use on virtual platforms and internal systems.
  • Stay current on compensation trends and practices through ongoing learning and professional engagement.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of compensation experience, or exposure to compensation operations, being a part of an HR department. Workday experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to use these skills to define and solve complex problems quickly.
  • Clear, concise, professional, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid skills in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Applications as well as online compensation administration tools, market survey online databases and HR systems required; report writing skills required.
  • Ability to develop and produce meaningful reports from multiple streams of data.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant U.S. laws and regulations related to compensation programs (i.e., FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Title VII, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and maintain confidentiality.

Compensation Range
$71,880.00 (minimum) - $89,850.00 (midpoint) - $116,805.00 (maximum)

Pay Type:
Annual

HHMI's salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
