About The Role

Reporting to the Regional President for the Phoenix Region, this SVP, Planning & Development is responsible for strategic land planning and development for the Teravalis Master Planned Community (MPC) located in the Phoenix, Arizona region. This position creates value by planning, designing and developing land within mixed-use communities that will be recognized as high quality, special places.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement a long-term vision for the MPC engineering, planning, design, land development and construction departments, aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead a customer focused team committed to the long-term capital appreciation of HHH's MPC's through timely response to the desires of these key audiences: homebuyers, homebuilders, commercial developers and end-users, owners, local governmental bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with HHH's management team, develops strategies, policies, sales and operating plans that adhere to the vision of the masterplan.
  • Work with the residential sales team to create forecast sales plans and budgets to achieve strong financial results, with oversight on implementation in the market through cultivation of relationships with residential end-users
  • Aggressively look for opportunities to maximize the community's sense of place and long-standing capacity to generate positive experiences for customers considering personal and/or professional moves.
  • Lead the efforts to continuously improve and adapt to dynamic business environments; bring clarity, focus, efficiency, and excellence to the ongoing management of the complex operations of large-scale MPCs.

Project Oversight
  • Lead the team to secure necessary entitlements, engineering plans, permit and other governmental approvals needed to develop residential, commercial and mixed-use properties. Represent the company with public agencies such as Federal, State, County, City, Utility Providers, , and School Districts relative to plan design and approval.
  • Coordinate and review the work of various disciplines on scope of work, project requirements, and project timelines. Assist with infrastructure planning and construction management.
  • Lead the planning, development, execution, and budgeting process for the MPC planning and land development business. Ensuring project timelines and deliverables meet company standards and business plans.
  • Review monthly Project Status Reports, Development Status Reports and budget forecasts on time and offer assistance to Directors and Managers of Planning and Design as well as Land Development staff, to maintain schedules and cost controls on projects.

Operational Excellence
  • Build, lead, and inspire a team of development employees, engineers, planners, architects and designers, and contractors fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Manage department resources, including staffing, budgets, and tools, to optimize efficiency and output.
  • Foster a customer-focused culture within the team so that we are recognized as an industry leader for its capacity to work collaboratively with constituents, including government officials, homebuyers, homebuilders, office, hotel, and multifamily developers and employees.
  • Provide leadership to employees by holding company meetings, internal communications, and personal interactions. Promote key intercommunity benchmarking and collaboration.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable practices to drive innovation.

About You
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's degree in real estate, or other related degree programs, preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in residential and/or commercial/mixed use property development and management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills with a minimum of 10 years supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, technical, and analytical skills to include both project management and business analysis.
  • Ability to determine and recognize quality and quickly recognize problems.
  • Polished presentation skills and ability to represent HHC in public speaking events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Work with little supervision.
  • Interact effectively as part of a team.
  • Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
  • A team player who can multi-task and is self-directed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
