ABOUT THE ROLE

The paralegal will work in a mutli-displinary role within the Legal Department including in litigation management and commercial contracting, with emphasis on contracts relating to the construction and operation of master planned communities and other real estate developments. Familiarity with litigation, contracting, and/or general corporate governance is essential. Sensible discretion in decision making and dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders is necessary.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare and review a variety of commercial contracts, including construction contracts, design professional contracts, professional services contracts, purchase orders,property service and management contracts.
  • Manage contract review and approval processes in the company's Contract Lifecycle Management system.
  • With respect to litigation, assist attorney with the managing of outside counsel, scheduling and calendaring, gathering and reviewing relevant evidence, and file management on litigation matters.
  • Assist attorney with research and various tasks concerning a wide array of litigation, including construction defect, real estate sales, and landlord-tenant disputes.
  • Work and collaborate with employees in other departments to help streamline and focus the efforts of the legal team.
  • Provide general administrative support and perform other duties as needed by the managing attorney.
  • Organize and maintain transaction files, both physical and electronic, ensuring all documents are filed correctly and are easily accessible.
  • Generate reports and summaries related to transaction status, timelines, and issues.
  • Assist with and monitor contract execution process, including use of DocuSign software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department.
  • Familiarity with legal contracts and related terminology.
  • Professional interaction with attorneys, clients and vendors.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Effectively work with minimal supervision.
