Team Lead, Accounts Payable

We are seeking a Team Lead,  Accounts Payable to provide day to day supervision of the Accounts Payable function. In this role you will lead an accounts payable team and will focus on ensuring the team's adherence to KPI’s, policies and procedures with an emphasis on quality stakeholder service through the use of clear effective communication. In line with Hootsuite's distributed workforce strategy, our flexible work arrangement allows for remote work or a hybrid model. This role is open to applicants located in Vancouver, BC. In this role, you will report to the Manager, Internal Controls and Continuous Improvement.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, including assigning, reviewing, monitoring workload to the AP team. Respond to all of the first line escalation responsibilities for all related matters
  • Oversee the process of vendor invoice coding, expense reimbursements and weekly wire runs, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Develop team members through mentoring, coaching and training with the use of regular 1:1 meetings and development planning
  • Assist the AP team with transactional activities during periods of high work volume
  • Monitor and optimize established procedures that guarantee accuracy of bill details, including payment instructions, terms, currency, amount, coding, tax, approval guidelines, etc. Review and provide recommendations to improve and enhance internal procedures and guidelines
  • Reconcile corporate credit cards
  • Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of all internal and external inquiries of accounts payable issues
  • Support and uphold both new and current finance policies and help to educate stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Accounting Team on month-end A/P close
  • Recommend and undertake projects aimed at improving A/P processes with a focus on quality service to key stakeholders
  • Coordinate and assist with financial audits including, support documentation, and communicating with external auditors

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; or equivalent education and experience
  • Significant relevant experience in Accounts Payable with an understanding of procure-to-pay procedures
  • Highly skilled and proficient at verifying financial or transactional data through the use of technology
