About the Role:

The Transformers Services Tendering and Technical Sales Manager plays a crucial role in securing contracts and business opportunities for Hitachi Energy's transformers services in Canada. This includes managing the entire tender/proposal development process, overseeing technical sales team activities and providing support to secure orders.

Key Responsibilities:

Tender and Proposal

  • Lead the team for tendering and proposals for different product lines of the transformer service portfolio in Canada.
  • Oversee the entire tender process, from bid proposal to submitting bids, including T&Cs review.
  • Lead the proposal development process, including kickoff meetings and proposal outlines to offer quality bids in a timely manner.
  • Lead the proposal team and manage the workload of the team.
  • Analyze tender documents to understand client requirements. Develop strategies to win tenders and secure contracts.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop proposal content. Manage the proposal review process and incorporate feedback.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary data for tender submissions. Edit and proofread proposals to ensure clarity and compliance.
  • Coordinate the production and delivery of final proposal documents. Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • With the help of our sales and legal team, negotiated acceptable T&Cs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate Risk Review per company policies and procedures.
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy and ensure handover for execution of orders
  • Manage and maintain long term commercial contracts

  • Have a strong understanding of the theory of operation and construction of transformers, transformers services, components such as bushings, etc.
  • Track key tendering KPIs, like hit rate, quote cycle time and so on.

Technical Sales

  • Product Knowledge: Understand and communicate the technical aspects of the products to potential customers and the industry.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to meet targets.
  • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide solutions.
  • Technical Support: Coordinate technical support and guidance during the sales process.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends and competitor service offerings to identify opportunities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure services meet all regulatory requirements for different markets.
  • Documentation: Prepare and submit necessary documentation for technical offering approval.
  • Approval Process: Manage the process of obtaining end user approvals for services offerings.
  • Customer Interaction: Work closely with end users to understand their requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Compliance: Ensure all services comply with end user specifications and standards.
  • Feedback: Collect and analyze feedback from end users to improve services offerings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in Tendering and Proposal management and technical sales, preferably in the transformers services industry.
  • Strong understanding of the transformers services market and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision making.

Ability to travel domestically is an essential part of this position.
