General information:
As a Mechanical Engineer for STATCOM Substation you will be responsible for STATCOM global projects. The person will act as mechanical engineer (electrical primary plus equipment structure knowledge) for the engineering disciplines included in the project specific scope of work assigned. He or she will actively develop and coach the project engineering team with technical advice.
Your responsibilities:
- You will ensure activities related to mechanical engineering disciplines within the area of responsibility are, in accordance with the contract specification, quality standards and safety requirements, ready to be submitted to customers.
- Shall be capable to finish Layout, section, grounding& lightning, cable routing &sealing design work for STATCOM substations independently to meet customer requirement.
- Shall be capable to finish civil guide drawing to meet project and customer requirements.
- Shall be capable to finish documents which include equipment installation drawing and installation guideline.
- Shall be capable to design equipment structure, select suitable busbar& conductor& Hardwares and integrate them as per scope of supply.
- Shall be capable for cable schedule work for whole substation.
- You need to create proposals for engineering projects or programs through coordination of proposal drawings, bill of materials, verification of suppliers' technical offers and estimate engineering hours for all engineering disciplines.
- You will coordinate the creation of work plans and prepare regular estimation of the cost to complete for working packages in all applicable engineering disciplines. Proactively manages the assigned engineering work to deliver the agreed deliverables on time, on quality and at the targeted cost.
- You will co-ordinate and clarify with other team members, sub-contractors and suppliers on technical issues and technical interfaces. Report to Engineering Manager regularly about the activities and status. Support the PM for better executing project.
- You will be involved in preparation of RFQ documents for SCM to obtain quote. Providing technical clarification for finalization of orders in cooperation with the LPG, after technical evaluation of offers.
- You will provide project management support, including managing engineering scope according to technical contracts, equipment procurement, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.
- You will provide construction, installation & commissioning support. Support with technical advice and guidance.
- You will attend to technical queries from client or Site team or FAT in supplier factory and provide solutions.

Your background:
- Bachelor or above majoring in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Power system and its automation, etc.
- At least 5 years in AIS substation design or Statcom System with focus on Primary electrical design &engineering.
- Sound knowledge of transmission and distribution practices & Substation engineering.
- To be able to determine the advantages and disadvantages and relative costs of alternative design concepts and work with the project engineering team on the establishment of preferred concepts.
- To have independently performed risk and opportunity analysis / assessment in proposals and supported project management in variation order and claims.
- Can travel as per projects/work needs.
- Self-motivated, high curiosity and ability to learn about new technologies.
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English language with good communication skills.
