The opportunity
We are seeking a Sustainability Project Manager to coordinate sustainability initiatives within the Transformers Business Unit of Hitachi Energy. This role will drive the execution of sustainability projects, ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, and support life cycle assessments (LCA), carbon footprint reduction, and circular economy strategies. The candidate will work cross-functionally with R&D, supply chain, operations, and regulatory teams to integrate sustainability into product development and manufacturing processes.
How you'll make an impact
- Manage sustainability R&D projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with corporate environmental goals and industry best practices.
- Support the development of carbon footprint reduction strategies, material efficiency improvements, and energy-saving initiatives.
- Support comparative assessments of products and processes to identify sustainability improvements.
- Ensure adherence to global and regional environmental regulations
- Oversee the collection and management of sustainability-related data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Support Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), and carbon footprint analysis by collaborating with specialists.
- Develop R&D sustainability technical reports, presentations, and performance dashboards for internal and external stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, operations, and corporate sustainability teams to drive sustainability integration.

Your background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in sustainability project management, preferably in the transformers, electrical equipment, or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects, drive sustainability initiatives, and engage stakeholders.
- Develop technical reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex environmental impact data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to work closely with large and complex remote teams and in a multi-country & -cultural environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English
