The opportunity
In this role you will be supporting our global technology team as a student focusing on development of Transformer technology in the field of transient voltage distribution along the windings of power transformers in case of non-standard operating conditions (e.g. lightning- or switching-impulse).
Your work will contribute to maintenance, verification, and introduction of new rules for Power Transformer Hitachi Energy standards. This will include improvements to our design and simulation software and support for our design engineers worldwide.
How you'll make an impact
- Research and definition of best-in-class calculation models
- Focusing on the development area of transformer transients
- Support for 2D and 3D FEM simulations of winding parameters
- Extraction of typical winding parameters (R, L, C) from simulation
- Analysis and utilization of these winding parameters in MATLAB
- Possibly experimental setup and measurements to validate FEM
- Interactions between transformer and network, support on failure analysis

Your background
- Successful study (Bachelor, Masters or PhD) in Electrical Engineering
- Skills in field simulations (2D and 3D electromagnetic simulations) will be an advantage
- Willingness to work in remote and diverse environment and travel when needed
- Good skills in English and German
- Good communication skills for sharing knowledge within your team
- Experience with programming and involvement in design tools creation will be an advantage
- Experience in electric circuit, dielectrics and transient physics modeling will be an advantage
