As a Senior Electrical Development Engineer at Hitachi Energy, you will play a critical role in the design and development of advanced transformer technologies. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of power transmission and distribution, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in our grid solutions. This position will be in our Bland, VA location. Relocation assistance is available.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and development of dry type transformers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define customized designs with high priority on safety design aspects and identification and control of hazards.
- Design, analyze, and evaluate systems, products, or components, requiring a high degree of technical expertise.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transformer design, manufacturing processes, and materials selection.
- Support prototype builds and testing activities, analyzing results, and recommending design modifications as necessary.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development within the transformer team.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in transformer design and manufacturing, incorporating new methodologies and best practices into our development processes.

Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and 3-5 years of experience in electrical design and development, with a focus on transformers in the power industry
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Proficiency in CAD software/ PTC Creo is preferred.
- Experience with programming languages such as C++ or C# preferred.
- Experience supporting technology implementation and Design to Value (DTV) initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audience
