You will be a vital member of the Power Consulting Team in Spain, and responsible for executing a range of technical assignments according to agreed-upon timeline and standards, using established and innovative solutions.

By actively participating in different type of assessments you will be supporting customers to solve complex challenges electrical systems are facing to reach their decarbonization and sustainability targets. The projects involve all the segments in the electrical sector from utilities, renewable generation developers and industries of all kinds.

How you'll make an impact

  • Responsible for the development of advisory projects by the Power Consulting team for System Studies, for major electricity sector agents, including distribution, transmission, retailer, generators in helping them deal with regulatory, economic and electricity challenges.
  • The projects may involve among others supporting utilities to improve their efficiency in operations, evaluate the impact of renewable integration (offshore and onshore) in the electrical networks, assessment of the introduction of new actors in the electrical ecosystem (E-mobility, H2, industry electrification and others) or the assessment of sustainability/efficiency measures to be implemented in electrical systems.
  • Participate in consulting assignments using established standards, methods, and technologies to develop solutions and resolve issues.
  • Assisting in the building and retention of long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers to support profitable growth and ongoing satisfaction.
  • Work in an environment of international collaboration within the different Power Consulting units and other Hitachi Energy groups.
  • Provide support on business development and Marketing/sales tasks: clarify customer enquiries on technical issues as well as analyses and work on customer's feedback and propose solutions.
  • Identifying opportunities for new and repeating consulting business, building an internal and external network for the exchange of information.
  • Engage in Project Management activities such as: planning and scheduling, customer satisfaction, financial and cost management, risk, and opportunity management. Ensuring delivery of assignments as per the agreed contract.

  • Creating added value for customers and the organization, ensuring the successful outcome of transactions, contracts, and proposals, using a series of sales techniques, and negotiating tactics for the leading of sales activities.
  • Conducting risk and opportunities for the various assessments, ensuring delivery of the assignment as per agreed contract.
  • Leading in the creation of new process and tool enhancement following the study of advanced techniques, with a lead to coach and develop subordinate colleagues.
  • Contributing to achieve agreed business financial targets for a technology, business area or consulting team.

Your background

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems or similar, is required. Advanced degrees preferred (Masters, PhD, MBA).
  • More than 8 years' experience in the execution of power systems studies and knowledge of electrical power systems. Experience in the design, understanding and performance of power systems studies with consulting approach.
  • Experience and knowledge of the electric power industry, market, systems and equipment's.
  • Knowledge in power systems modelling, simulation and analysis, as well as experience in software simulation tools such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, EMTP, PSCAD, RTDS and definition of different studies static and dynamics.
  • Experience in analyzing and proposing solutions on areas like Transmission, Renewable, Offshore, Hydrogen, Industry, Sustainability, Energy markets, BESS, FACTS, HVDC, E-mobility, smart city, railway, protections, insulation coordination, grid code compliance.
  • Power systems expertise, equipment knowledge and elaboration of proposals on energy policy and regulation design.
  • Management, leadership and advising of private companies and public agencies on the fields of regulation, operation and strategy in energy sector at a national and international level.
  • Knowledge in user defined model development in the software tools for power system analysis will be valued using Python, Fortram, DSL, NPL, or similar languages. Valued competences as well in digital solutions like AI, Databases, Data analytics.
  • Python scripting will be valued.
  • Fluent English and Spanish both written and spoken. Any additional languages will be appreciated.
  • Short business trips might be required, typically for meeting with customer at the start of the project or trip for the presentation of results.
